  • Yes, this is a very good rendition, he had the tendency to get throaty but that's what he sounded like. My grandfather heard him in his prime and said he was better than most people give him credit for, good stage presence and fantastic acting (which DOES matter in an actual production), anyone who has been to live performances knows this.

  • when you hear this you understand what's the true meaning of singing

    thank you much placido domingo

  • @abialex to a different opinion than your chorus teacher's, or perhaps not.I was also misled into thinking that Domingo's voice was formidable, until I did hear him live in the 1990s in I Pagliacci.I went to the Met. with the best intentions of hearing something special& I came away being more than dissapointed. He was good in the more lyric portions of the opera, But again PD did fall short in the more dramatic&heroic parts of the opera, cutting phrases& highnotes short&omitting 1 B-natural.Enjoy

  • @abialex I would say that Domingo does do a respectable Otello, espescially in the more lyric portions of the opera.Plus his interpretation of the role is pretty good. However, when it comes to the Esultate& Si Per Ciel, his voice is not dramatic&heroic enough.Dclamations & recitatives are not as strong as say Merli's or Del Monaco's to say the least. It's good to have faith in your chorus master, but perhaps your independent listening of Zenatello, Pertile,Vickers,Merli,Martinelli could bring you,

  • @sugarbist well, i've never heard him live, and i must admit that he's voice is not as dark as corelli...non the less howver, it is my understanding that he is by many pros thought to be the best othello..now, as i understand it, othello happens to be more for tenors of guiseppe giacomini at least..or for helden tenors who are in fact baritones...again,i have never heard the man live, but my chorus master swears that he is the best and that his voice is huge..i particularly like jonas

  • Dal vivo voce fuori ruolo.

  • IL PROBLEMA MAGGIORE è QUELLO DI NON COINVOLGERE EMOTIVAMENTE IL PUBBLICO...BUON ANNO

  • @abialex I come to my conclusion after listening to the dramatic tenors I mentioned &knowing that the spinto tenors had larger voices than Domingo.I also saw Domingo live in I pagliacci. He was hardly audible&didn't have&doesn'thave the command of his vocals like the tenors I listed,Singing a dramatic opera does not make you a dramatic tenor.I will admit that Domingo's voice does sound larger on records, but not LIVE.I heard Corelli live. His voice was darker& bigger&he was a spinto.Enjoy

  • @abialex Sorry,I never received your reply until seeing it know. No, I'm not an experienced world renowned vocal master. But, I don't have to look outside my window to know that it's raining.A dramatic tenor can be a voice that is ringing, powerful&heroic like Tamagno,or Zenatello&Escalai.or could be a voice that has a dark rich quality like Vinay or Vickers, Lorenz or Del Monaco.Domingo's voice has a nice velvet quality to it,slightly dark, but, does not have a ringing quality&is not heroic

  • Sugarbist, u must b an experienced world renoun vocal Maestro. Everyone n theur mother on the planet who is, or ever was someone in the wrld of opera says that he is a dramatic tenor, xept You!. well I mus know or hear somethin they dont! but hey, who knjows may u is rite...as fir me, Im just curious to knw hw u came to such conclusion...thats all!

  • @singerboyshad To say that he's a dramatic tenor is really stretching the imagination. He gets throaty and squeezes because the aria is too big for him.(Sei Tu FORZE un uom}is squeezed out.Examples of dramatic tenors are Zenatello Merli Del Monaco Tamagno Paoli.Domingo is a lyric spinto at best.Spinto voices like Corelli Tucker Volpi Martinelli Fillipeschi Gino Penno, all had larger voices than Domingo.

  • Fantástico !!!!
