RANT ON FAKE AIRBRUSHING OF MODELS AND CELEBS IN THE MEDIA

MY VIEWS ON SHAMEFUL AIRBRUSHING IN THE MEDIA AND HOW IT AFFECTS OUR ASSUMPTIONS OF BEAUTY. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THAT LOOKING AT IMAGES LIKE THESE FOR AS LITTLE AS 3 MINUTES REDUCES A WOMAN'S SELF ESTEEM REGARDLESS ON WETHER THE VIEWER IS FAT OR THIN AND PRETTY, THE RESULT IS THE SAME. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST MAKE-UP OR MODELS (I AM A DESIGNER) BUT THESE IMAGES ARE RUINING OUR VIEW OF OURSELVES AND CAN LEAD TO EATING DISORDERS AND SELF HATE. AND MAYBE I'M SOMETHING OF A FEMENIST? I DON'T KNOW. HOPEFULLY THE FIRST OF A SERIES ABOUR SOCIAL GENDER MYTHS

I dont read magazines anymore - I dont follow fashion models, I dont worry about celebrities and I rarely watch TV. My plan would be to get everyone to boycott these things, and once they loose their power and influence over you, then you start to feel better almost immediately. Women have to have the strength to turn away from these things in the media - mainly models and celebrities, and STOP being so impressed by them!! Its pathetic! We are the ones giving power to what hurts us the most

that is something a man would say......women run the fashion industry? trust me i work in it and while there are some sucessful women who stand out- it is still a very male dominated profession while you see the women in the spotlghts sometimes it is the men in suits with all the cash who pull the strings.

@SpaceyAtariQueen Because you clearly showed that you don't know shit about how the fashion industry works. You're just trying to red rid of your self esteem issues criticizing retouched photos that are not so retouched. You know, good models are almost naturally flawless. Sometimes poses they take are not flattering for the body and it needs to be fixed. So what? An image needs to be appealing to sell. End of the story. The concept of beauty is as old as humanity.

@SpaceyAtariQueen Ok miss queen, it's normal not to be completely satisfied with how we look. We ain't perfect. And don't lie, you're not working in the fashion industry that's a shameful lie. So if these images makes you feel bad about yourself, go see a psychologist and/or a plastic surgeon and STFU. it's YOUR issue, not ours.

LOLLLLL Guurl you're so pressed and desperate. I'm a retoucher and I'm proud of my job. It's about selling a dream, not showing something completely natural. On the other hand, fashion and beauty models are VERY i mean VERY beautiful and the work is fine tuning skin, symetry and physionomy (not to mention the overal image treatment). and BTW a lot of the photos you show are fake ass ugly retouches, not profesionnal jobs. And it's not AIRBRUSHED, it's RETOUCHED. Aibrushing is a bad technique.
