Remembrance Day, also known as Veteran's Day, Poppy Day and Armistice Day is observed on November 11 around the world.

No words can adequately describe the sacrifice of men and women we honour today.

This video provides an opportunity to reflect on lives lost during war.

The poppy's significance to Remembrance Day is a result of Canadian John McCrae's poem In Flanders Fields.

Video produced by FreeFoto principal photographer Ian Britton.

  • "They shall grow not old,

As we that are left grow old:

    Age shall not weary them,

    Nor the years condemn,

At the going down of the sun

    And in the morning

    We will remember them."
