PDF's look like shit on all Ebook readers. Amazon is huge and doesn't seem to be losing steam anytime soon, so in my family there are four Kindles. Getting lots of books is very easy. If you find books that are not AZW or Mobi, you can use Calibre to convert them. Calibre does convert PDF files but they still suck. If you have the patience you can use an OCR software to convert the PDF, but it is a task, even if you pay for ABBYY Finereader. The one huge advantage is the SD card slot.

I have a Kobo touch and it is brilliant. I'd recommend the touch above the Kindle due to more places to buy books and ability to borrow elibrary books.

Why The Kobo is actually better. You're not forced to use the Kobo book store like you are forced to only use Amazon books on the Kindle, you can read .epub file books from any store and open pdf, rtf and txt files. A new update brought 7 new fonts into the mixture so there are nine now. It is smaller, more robust and user friendly with regular updates (games, apps, etc:).
The kindle is nice but I know which one I'm getting...

the kindle looks so much better and easier to read

why does kobo screen look so crappy compared with kindle

The Kobo is much faster now with the newest firmware. It really lags in this video but now it doesn't, it is even faster than the Kindle.

I DON'T CARE WHICH IS BETTER! I JUST WANT TO READ!

@bahbuhbuy doesn't the kobo play pdfs too? this is the game-changer for me

biased. You can buy books from anyone but amazon when you use the kobo. Amazon has a specific file type on all of their ebooks that will only work with kindle. I would like to be able to shop around on prices for my ebooks, so I will always go with one that uses EPUB format.

What I like about the kobo touch that most reviewers fail to mention is that it has an SD card slot whereas the kindle doesn't. I can borrow ebooks from the library on the kobo but not on the kindle. It is lighter and smaller than the kindle. It is a much sturdier and robust machine than the kindle. And the cover has a nice rubbery feel to it that doesn't scratch or damage easily. I've dropped my kobo touch a couple of times and there's not even a scratch on it.

You forgot to mention all the new added features of the Kobo Touch such as the Koba Sketch Feature.
