Here's an old 78 single that apparently topped the charts sometime in the 1940's. Chickery Chick by Sammy Kaye was the song. The wear on the record is evident as you hear it being played on an old console stereo with a Dual turntable. To all you people out there who know this and those who don't, enjoy!!

  • This song was popular when I was 5 years old. I"m now 71 years old and have always sung it, silly as it is. Last year my sister and I reunited with our other sister, whom we haven"t seen in 40 years and wouldn't you know it, in the course of our visit we started singing Chickery Chick. We laughed and had such a good time and her children were delighted and tickled over it. It was great.

  • @vivaciousnikki Thanks for the comment. My father-in-law, now 81 introduced my to the song quite a few years ago. He was tickled when I told him that I found it on an old 78 RPM. Seems a lot of people remember it.

  • i was singing this to my grand daughter and decided to look to see if its on here and it is of course so how excitting is that. I sing it to my kids and now my grand kids my mom used to sing it to me nice to know theres a club of us that enjoy thankful for the person who posted it wow really nice of you

  • @wildthing3722 It seems there are a great many of you out there that know this song as this is by far my most viewed video. Really glad you enjoyed and thanks for the nice comments!!!

  • This is from 1945, and my Dad was overseas at the time. My brother & I used to sing it a lot. Later I sang it to my children and now my grandchildren. Such a silly song really but it sure sticks in your mind! I loved it, along with I've Got a Loverly Bunch of Coconuts, and She's Too Fat (must have been Spike Jones), very politically incorrect now but popular at the time.

  • This song was well before my time but my In-laws know it well and are also fans of the other 2 song you mentioned. Glad you liked it!

  • I don't like the song as much as I do like the video! excellent!

  • It was Billboard's #1 single the week of November 17, 1945.

  • Yes, I agree this song was well before my time, too. My mother and my older cousin would sing this comical little song to me. I never forgot it and really was in awe when I found it on YouTube, My grandchildren got a kick-out-of-it.

I suppose they will continue the tradition and sing it to their children someday and the song will go on and on for generations to come.

  • It topped the charts mid-december 1945
