This song is dedicated to my pre-calculus teacher, Mrs. Lawrence, who tragically and suddenly died during school. I was a witness to her death, and it was heartbreaking and traumatizing. I had a lot of emotions that I didn't know how to process, and I needed to express them some how. I went home and I wrote this song. It really helped me to come to terms with everything. I hope that this song can help other people too with the deaths of loved ones.
Everyday, things happen in our lives;
a husband loses a wife,
students lose a teacher.
She was so full of life and energy,
offered a smile to all she'd see.
We cling to the memories of her.
Never forgotten in our minds.
When her life flashes before your eyes,
all you can do is sit right there and cry.
As you watch her take a deep breath,
the last one that will escape her chest.
And you think, life isn't fair.
Oh God, help me to understand.
I know, I know, you have a higher plan.
It comforts me to know,
Heaven has a new angel today.
Even though it hurts we can say
that she is with the Father.
Paradise has certainly gained
a beautiful soul, doesn't feel no pain.
We know that He is with her.
Her laugh, it echos in my mind.
You were so young.
And as she watches from the skies,
she says do not mourn,
but celebrate my life.
So dry your eyes, you'll be okay.
I'll watch over you every single day.
Even though life isn't fair.
I'll try to help you understand
the Lord God, the Lord God,
He has a higher plan.
So don't you cry, just know.
