It took almost a day to bake, then 1096 CPU hours to render. Fortunately I used 56 CPUs so it was less then a day

  • I cannot imagine having to program the software for this. Damn water is attracted to itself through electric fields due to its dipole chemical structure :S

  • blender is opensource, so if you like you can check the code ;)

  • Nice but why was it in slow-motion.

  • good point, justed posted a "normal-motion" version

  • nice, do you won your own render farm?

btw, what was the resolution for water?

  • I used to work for a University, we had a nice cluster over there.

Water resolution hmm, unforunatly it was long time ago I cannot remember

  • cool! it would be cooler if the domain was bigger. then it'd be like a wave tubing :D

  • @snakeyboizz youre fucking retarded. just sayin.

  • the geforce 8800 water demo looks way better than this

  • good work man.

But i think now a day it is not necessary to use 50 CPUs for that.

With a resolution of 300 or so it would be able to bake and render this stuff within a day if you had a core i7 or phenom X6 :)

Question: How can i use a server/cluster for rendering a scene in blender?

  • Wow that's awesome, especially the part where it's slow like every other water simulation!

  • oh... i have different computer

    Model: HP G60 Notebook PC

    processor: pentium Dual_Core cpu t4200 @2.0 GHz

    RAM: 3.00GB

  • i saw a program on channel five the other night called gadgets they rendered and a full robot simulation in comp with real caera footage as good quality as a movie and was half hour long they were running servers fulll of cpus it took them about 5 seconds to render so i think your lying unless you was using like 56 cpus from a nokia 3310 or something

  • yeah me too... it would take me a day to render at 250 res +500 frames mirrors added, but this looks like a few hours if not one, but i also don't know the settings he used in blender.

  • i use a laptop for my rendering with a pentium dua core processor 1.86ghz and it would take me less than 2 hours to render that how did it take you nearly a day with 56 cpus:S?
