The Sierra Club of NYC presented Mr. Sanzillo's analysis of the economics of coal in NYC in January 2009. Not only is the coal industry disastrous to the land and air, and the final tipping point toward global warming that the world just doesn't need, but even economists have to note that it is a poor investment. With hope, Obama's EPA wil regulate it even more than it was in the past, making it still less profitable. NYC plays a special role in coal, since the industry holds its annual meeting here on March 5, 2009 at the Millenium Hotel, JP Morgan's Annual Meeting is held here in May, the McCloskey Group's Coal USA Conference is held here at the Essex House on June 24-25 and the Coal Trading Conference NYC is held Decemebr 7 - 8, 2009. The lecture gives an excellent overview of the coal industry, America's National Campaign to Stop Coal Plants and the role New Yorkers might play in stopping this environmental catastrophe at its very center.
