From our early days at the Cape May Whale Watcher, circa 1996. The vessel, pre bow pulpit, pre-stability sponsons, and pre engine re-power. At the time, the vessel was the largest in the state. As we move forward to the present time, 2011, we still find the Cape May Whale Watcher, or "Big Red" the largest in the state of NJ whale and dolphin watching.

  • Glad to see this boat still in service. I remember a friendly intercoastal waterway race in the 1970's between this boat with Capt. Sinn at the helm and the boat "Buccaneer" (ex- Air / Sea rescue boat) with my uncle at the helm. Who won? Neither. Both boats were pretty fast for their size and neither boat was able to pull away from the other. This was the only time I've ever seen both boats at wide open full throttle. It's not a good idea to push them that hard, but once in a while it's fun!
