Just a little demonstation the fire department was giving on how they use the jaws of life to open a car. After about 5 mins they guy said they were starting to get complaints from the guy under the sheet cuz they were taking too long lol. I only taped about 3 mins of it. It took them about 10 mins to open up the whole car.

  • @fireman1 This isn't a real emergency, it's just a demonstration. EMS would provide patient care and transport at a real MVA.

  • @rubber314chicken Not all firefighters are paramedics. Some are EMT-B's and a few are A-EMT's with the occasional medic. Becoming a paramedic takes between 1200-1800 hours of course work. That is a ridiculous assumption.

Not true. Most firefighters are certified EMT-Basic's, though in some jurisdictions they are trained to FirstResponder level. Some FF's are EMT-Paramedics also, they can provide AdvancedLifeSupport (ALS).

  • they dont always cut the battery cables. i was in a horrible highway accident that was a five car pileup. i got out of my mitsubishi diamante after it rolled, and i was completly fine. they cut the roof off of a 2009 tundra 4door with front and curtain bags, never cut the batt cables. the key was left on the entire time, with the drls on.

  • this is way cool! i'm a fire explorer and yesterday we split into two groups of 4 and took about a car using jaws of life among other tools. and its so cool to see what we did being put to work. well not a true emergency, but it is cool to see what i did yesterday, seeing firement do it lol. like using the haligan and ax to pry open the car door so u can fit the spreader in. omg way cool! it feels awesome not being a bystander and actually knowing what the tools are! explorer program rocks!

  • All firefighters are certified paramedics as well.

  • who is going to be inside doing patient care..firefighters ?

  • It's a Subaru Loyale wagon (late 80's or early 90's.)

  • This is only a demonstration on how they use the Jaws of Life, not every precaution that goes into doing a vehicle extrication.

  • hey i'm on my friends account and i'm a firefighter. they didn't disconnect the battery or even try to open the door you know "try before you pry" and they only secured the car on 2 points instead of 4 what fire dept. is this?? nor did they check for wires that could set off the airbags and possibly kill the patient
