I crack up everytime you say Uba-Duba!

I just assumed that Anakin's mother unknowingly injested the date-rape drug, and didn't know that someone had his way with her while she was out cold... I never took it to be the "Immaculate Conception." She's a slave: which means that "shit like that" happens... or could happen. Or maybe this is what happened: She's a serial killed, and killed her sutor like a black widow spider (no one needs to know). Or maybe Darth Plagius knocked her up and used the Force to erase her memory...

@charlesvan13 I hate this movie, but I think the reason to your question is because Obi Wan tells them to cut all transmitions so that they can't be traced by the Trade Federation...I dunno
-
I wonder what CM would cut Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace some slack or hate it even more if saw recently in 3D? Oh and is CM saying "slave mom" and "he [Qui-gon] just sits stone faced" suposed to be funny because sure found it another example of Matty boys genuis comady genuis. Oh and I am is biggest fan.

LOL @ "Darth Time-filler"!
-
this film has 2 good things. podracing and darth maul but thats only because they have become iconic and are original. but maul didnt do anything and the podrace was boring
-
I like this review, but I think you're wrong about Anakin's conceiving.
Him being conceived by the midi-clorians explains why he is so strong in the force, it actually closes a plot hole.

I'm afraid your arguments concerning slavery are somewhat flawed
our planet is tiny compared to the star wars universe, and we have comparable political circumstances. There is still slavery today, exactly where it is in the corresponding places in the movie. hard to reach/uncivilised countries/planets, ruled by thugs. It's reasonable to assume any giant space organisation would have similar unsolved problems.
-
@charlesvan13 depends if they have phone on the planet
-
@charlesvan13 Because Qui-Gon said via communicator "It's too dangerous to call for help." He and Obi-Wan knew, or at least sensed, through Sio Bibble's transmission that the Trade Federation could have tracked their location had they responded in any way. Although they DID have that option.

it is probably because vader is well known for telling the truth that he is a father of luke and leai. second, vader means father in german.

revenge to destory the jedi and gain control of the galaxy
-
it focuses in the future when qui gon takes anakin as a jedi to bring balance to the force after winning the podrace.
-
It is because the jedi are not allowed to free slavery. Anakin said possession and attachment is forbidden in episode 2. If the jedi would feel passionate to free the slaves, the jedi might turn into the darkside.
-
sorry but you statement is wrong. the jedi are not allowed to take families and friends, because what anakiin said in episode 2 is, posession is forbidden, attachment is forbidden. and second the republic has no control of tatooine.
-
actually it is because the jedi are in the coucil not only to feel the force but to send the jedi which he/she is chosen, and the force also bind the galaxy together. second, the republic is very busy in disputing about the crisis in Naboo.
-
Matthew not knowing what a Sith is seems very acted out. How stupid can you really be?
Otherwise, I hate this movie too. And the second one. Third is just barely ok.
-
One thing I did like about Ep 1 was the Pod Race. I didn't find that boring
-
@33LB Anakin, the former slave, could've told the Jedi about the slaves and Tattoine take it to the senate and do something about it. "The Jedi only do what the republic authorizes them to do," would've been that if Anakin did tell them. And they get paid to do so, that only adds one more reason why I despised the Jedi in the prequels for being idiots.
-
@AlexAmericaisAwesome That's still a stretch and it would not be comprehensible if explained in the movie.
Why didn't Qui-gon and Obi-wan just call some other Jedi or republic official to pick them up.
If your car breaks down, and you can't get the part you need, you usually just call someone to pick you up.
