Giant Red Dust Storm engulfs the East Coast of Australia - 2009

On the 23rd of September, 2009 a massive dust storm carried by severe winds from the North West engulfed most of the East Coast of Australia, limiting visibility, diverting all flights and causing a thick reddish haze. This Footage was filmed just after 6AM on the morning of 23/09/2009 in Sydney, the comparative shots were taken later that day when the storm had travelled North and left a thin layer of red dust in the streets and on cars. It had a faint chalky smell and caused slight irritation to the eyes and lungs, it was proceeded by a windy night with brilliantly clear skies.

The dust traveled from parts of the middle of Australia where the dirt and other dust is like that, it blew over some parts of the East Coast, and yes there is dust in australia.
