I visited my family - just the other day
To see my Uncle Bill on this holiday
I asked him how he'd been since last, I'd passed his way
He rubbed his chin here's what he had to say.
Got a new job, at a factory
packing it up, to send overseas
I'd like to work more, but its my last day
But its Christmas, so everything's OK.
So I lost my job, got tossed in the mud
To buy my kids gifts, I sold my blood
But my blood was bad, the doc said no way

My car broke down and it needed a tow
a cop gave me a ticket for pushing too slow
The car won't run until the first of May

The water shut off, the power did too
to make matters worse, the kids got the flu
My outlook is sunny, but the skies are all grey

The bank then called, they took the house
We moved to a tent, too small for a mouse
And now i've got debts no honest man can pay

our tent is cold and the walls are thin
The way were livin is a downright sin
and the cops just told us that we cant stay

Our tent has rotted - in the ground
I asked for a loan but the banker turned me down
But it's Christmas and we're prayin' for better days
So after all, ever'thing's in purty good shape
