  • Hey Bob, I have a 7 D and just got AVID. I did exactly what you said and when set the playback to full screen, it's pixeled. (Straight lines are jaggedy). Am I missing the right import setting? Is it my camera? I didn't think it was my camera cause it's the 7 D...How can I make my video the very best quality? What settings do you recommend? Thanks.

  • @andizackable H.264 QuickTime files are very demanding for a computer to playback. What type of computer are you using?

  • You're using the Matrox MXO to connect to your 2nd monitor, right?

  • @dermagicmax The MXO 2 Mini is not the desktop of the computer, but the audio/video out from Media Composer.

  • Does this mean I can just shoot video with a Canon 7d, transfer the files to my computer and into Media Composer and that's it? What makes this different from Final Cut Pro? I just purchased the 7d last week and have yet to edit a single frame, so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • @jlg395 That's exactly what it means. The QuickTime files that the 7D record don't have time code. When Media Composer 5 links to the files it uses the creation date as the time code. When FCP imports the QuickTime files they have 00 time code. The Canon log and transfer application must be used to rewrap the files to add the creation date as the time code. This takes around half real time to complete and duplicates the media.
