http://www.envisionselfhealing.com - Near and Far Eye Exercise
How will this eye exercise improve my eyesight?
The ciliary muscle is an involuntary muscle which is part of the middle layer within the eyeball. It is connected to the lens by suspensory ligaments (zonules) and creates movement with the lens, allowing us to focus either near or far. When we focus our eyes on a near object this muscle contracts, rounding the lens. When we focus on a far object, it relaxes, flattening the lens. Just like any muscle in the body, if we don't use it to its full potential then it will become weak and inflexible. So by fully contracting and relaxing we can train the muscle to become stronger and more efficient at its job ie accommodation (focusing) and production of aqueous humour.
If you feel any eyestrain during this eye exercise, STOP, and perform the Palming Eye exercise before returning back to the Near and Far work.
