If this country is to achieve genuine democracy, the result of the elections of 1990 must be recognized. It must be recognized by the military regime, as it has been recognized by the people, and by the world at large. It is through this recognition that we will be able to make genuine progress in Burma. The results of the 1990 General Elections must be implemented is a resolution already taken by the United Nations. We already know that the General Assembly of the United Nations has accepted the notion that the will of the people has been expressed in the 1990 General Elections. This is something we can not abandon. It will be to the detriment of our country if after an election has been held the results are not honoured and we do not resist attempts to trivialise it, Aung San Suu Kyi.

Burma's democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi was born in June 19, 1945 from General Aung San, Burma's independence hero and Daw Khin Kyi. She is the icon of the Burmese people's struggle for freedom and figure of the non-violent movement. We salute her courage and sacrifices she makes for the whole country. She gives us hope, confidence and faith in our aspiration for democracy.
Military regime repeatedly extending her detention and she is spending 14 of last 20 years under house arrest.
Junta claims it will hand over power after 1990 elections but when NLD won by landslide victory, they ignore to transfer power. Aung San Suu Kyi should be Prime Minister as leader of the winning Party according to the results of the 1990 general election; instead military government put her under house arrest.
In Burma, power is centred on the ruling junta which maintains strict authoritarian rule over the people of Burma through intimidation, the strict censuring of information, repression of individual rights, and suppression of ethnic minority groups.
Under the military government, people of Burma suffer very tremendously.
Aung San Suu Kyi is always calling for to do genuine dialogue with military government to find the solution peacefully.
We, Burma Democratic Concern, recall the important messages given by legitimate leader of Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi.
Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
"To ignore the result of the 1990 elections is to have total disrespect for the people and is also an insult to the people."
"The NLD must stand up firmly to achieve the results of the elections of 1990."
If this country is to achieve genuine democracy, the result of the elections of 1990 must be recognized.
"We have always been flexible; we want to be flexible. And we want to negotiate an agreement for the betterment of the people of Burma."
"I am ready to cooperate with the government in order to make (the) process of dialogue a success."
They are the mandate given by our leader and this is our duty to realize them.
Burma Democratic Concern called for the military junta to release Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners immediately and unconditionally and urged the people around the world to work collectively to bring about the change in Burma.
