  • I remember seeing Willie on TV when he looked like this, and my mom loved him, but when he resurfaced in the 1970s with long braided hair, she couldn't stand him...but I also remember when someone I knew loved Charley Pride, until they discovered he was black...I was a child and didn't understand both folks reactions...I thought it was about the music....

  • @kadigiscoot Willie had a diresct hand in getting Pride gigs in Texas. Club ownere would say no because he was black and Willie would then threaten not to play there again unless they booked him. Bless Willie Nelson!

  • me grandmother usta tell stores of how he usta sing in the back yard and the neighbors jest kicked back, BBQ ed and enjoyed it. Just a kid that none knew whom he would turn out to be. There were a couple of very talented kids his age around and everyone took it fer granted. Not everyone had that small yellow radio on the dresser.

  • The greatest songwriter ever!!!

  • If I had watched this with the sound turned off, I NEVER would have guessed this was Willie! Even knowing now that it's Willie, I still can't see any resemblance!

  • Super Talent..Live Forever Willie!

  • wow what a nice looking man than and now

  • He wasn't kidding about that last song (Crazy) being emotional when Patsy recorded it as he could hardly keep singing it choked him up so much.

  • When I think of Willie -- who is one of my favorites -- I always think of the line from "Raiders of the Lost Ark". "It's not the years, it's the mileage." Willie has a lot of mileage on him -- but unlike everyone else, every mile he gets better. He's like an old vintage car, or old bottle of vintage wine. He'll just keep getting better until the day he dies.

  • Willie always looked older when he was young and clean-cut....I guess long hair does add youth to some people,

  • Lovbe it. People change.

  • WOW! He wasn't always a renegade then? LOL ;D
