Over five action packed days Brisbane's cultural precinct was home to more than 300 participants, who came from around the world to be part of the 2010 Brisbane Writers Festival.
From Norway to Nigeria, China to Brazil, via the States, more than 29 international writers travelled countless miles to join our own exceptional contingent of national, local and regional writers in the conversations and sometimes intense debates that filled those rooms night and day.
Festival Director Jane O'Hara said, "As I look back on the past five days I am full of pride, and would like to thank the writers and the Chairs, along with the audiences and our own volunteers for the tremendous spirit, energy and enthusiasm that has brought us together and made this Festival so successful."
"It is with great excitement that I confirm audience attendances are up - 30,103 (29,000 in 2009), and similarly book sales for our authors have increased -- in fact they have almost doubled!"
Brisbane Writers Festival 2010 delivered 139 panel sessions, a huge three day 10,000 place schools program known as Word Play, along with 24 popular workshops and many offsite visiting writer events.
