A standard job when customizing a Mauser rifle is to fill in the locking screw holes, giving the bottom metal a smooth, custom look. Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, demonstrates this process using a TIG welder and a counterbore.

if you do not understand the requirement of tightening the receiver screws to a specific torque, for accuracy, they you, of course will not understand why you would want to do this.
if you don't care about accuracy, and are good with 3" groups, then you need to ignore this video, and any others related to accuracy.
also, if done well, it just looks better to NOT have a locking screw.

@ozzirt the locking screws i think are there for a good purpose to begin with TO KEEP THE RIFLE FROM GETTING LOOSE i know how you feel this one is pointless and time consuming

My BRNO made K98 action will be 70 years old next year, and the locking screw has never caused a problem of any sort.
Pointless!... and time consuming, with no benefit to the user whatsoever.

@bigbattles The locking screws were there for military purposes to keep the action screws from backing out. They aren't necessary, are just one extra set of screws to get stripped, cross threaded, or rusted into place making it damn near impossible to disassemble the gun. If you have the means, and knowledge to get rid of them it's not a bad idea.

Pro Tip: If you turn the volume down to 25%, you can hear Larry and block out the background music.
These videos are great, but the new music is way too dramatic.

Give you a nickel if you punch the guy who decided to use this music.
