The legendary blues artist Otis Taylor visits our studio and plays on the Signature Santa Cruz guitar named for him. A true pleasure to have met him and had him in the studio. Thanks, Otis!

  • Also, that is one simply beautiful guitar

  • @fattywombus One thing that can't be realized by watching this is that Otis literally sat down in front of the camera with no prompts, no script, and no plan, for three minutes and thirty seconds, and this is what we captured. This was not some sort of agenda, or pre-conceived production. He just did this as a favor- a tribute to how good of a guy he is ,and how great of an improviser as well. A natural born performer from our perspective. Thanks Otis!

  • He's really not all that good.

  • What a sweet sound!

  • @pickinallday This fast example of Otis here is not indicative of this: But some things you cant learn. Like in fighting, timing /music is as much about the spaces left between notes as the technical abilities to play them. Within the space comes usefulness and from the note comes profit. Like a door cut into a wall. Its whats not there that is of use .

Ambiance and atmosphere is what I find lacking in many of the top technical performers that the world loves so much these days.

  • @pickinallday Who still care about the technical level --' ? Blues is about soul and feeling. The way he plays is simply incredible as soon as you consider it.

If ya want rapidity and hard scales well, fuck the fuck outta here dude --'.

  • @pickinallday i totally agree with you he ain't all that

  • @pickinallday He's not mediocre at all. He has his own distinct style that stands out from any other player I've ever heard. He puts his whole soul into the music. In my opinion that makes him pretty great.

  • @pickinallday Well, given that he's an artist responsible for producing some of the most influential acoustic music albums out there, there are going to be a lot of people that disagree with you. You are certainly entitled to your own opinion, but the reason he is demo'ing a guitar, is that because the guitar he is demo'ing is HIS signature guitar model. He's definitely not a technician, but he's most certainly a compelling artist in every way.

  • @sain0777 He's mediocre. His music would become stale after a few listens. What's great about being human is we can all have opinions. yayyy

  • @pickinallday You're crazy. What have you done? Have you listened to his music? You obviously cannot see talent when its in front of you.
