Kim Peek died on 19 December 2009, aged 58. Kim died of a heart attack. Kim was well known as the real rain man, the person that the film was based on. Kim and his father Fran were simply inspirational.
Kim Peek was an extraordinary human being. His phenomenal reading and memory abilities are exhibited on other youtube clips. His engagement with people, his inherent decent humanity, was also astonishing. A truly stellar human being.
If you look around in youtube I think that you will find his father Fran to be at least as engaging as Kim. What a man! The outstanding love and devotion given by this man are beyond inspirational. The men were integrally connected - as Kim said of his father we share the same shadow.

Another genius dead :(, I believe in the afterlife and feel he's fine.
His father was really great man too, its amazing how most people I know with children with Autism and other conditions seem very close with their children and are amazing people, even though a lot of them have a hard time (and life if the child is severe)

Fran lived for his son. Oldest living person in his family history, I believe it was thanks to his desire to care for his son. My heart goes out to the man and all care givers like him.
