United Nations International Indigenous Youth Caucus

This video was created to promote the United Nations International Indigenous Youth Caucus. The caucus presented the video at a side event session at the 7th Annual United Nations Permanence Forum on International Indigenous in 2008. The side session was organized by the Canadian Youth Delegation and sponsored by the Department of Canadian Heritage, Taking It Global, Micmac Native Friendship Centre, Athabaskan First Nation, Eskasoni First Nation. The United Nations International Indigenous Youth Caucus has been working with youth representatives from all regions of the world. These youth have voiced concerns regarding topics such as Traditional Languages, Loss of Cultural Identity, Colonization, Climate Change and Environmental Concerns, and many others.

The term "Nepal" is first found in 'Atharva Parishista' (4th Century B.C.)

The term "Kirat Desh"or Kirat Country is found in the earlier documents such as Veda.

Hi Ursula,

We are a youth group from Winnipeg travelling to the UN in May and would very much like to meet with your group and perhaps observe some of your dialoguing amongst eachother. Our youth group is called EAYGL (Empowering Aboriginal Youth in Governance & Leadership) and there is 7 of us travelling together to New York.
