Imagine cruising down route 66, it is 1956 and your new 316(.6) cubic inch V8 is all business. Your 3rd generation Chieftain wants to eat up the road and do it in style. This is the last year of the trademark "silver streaks" from the hood. The second year overhead valve V8 drove Pontiac into the performance era, which changed the image and sales of this venerable brand!

What a pretty car. I am very partial to '56 Pontiacs, since I've had a Chieftain 860 Catalina 2 door since Oct. '88, the longest anyone in my family has had one particular vehicle. I just wish mine was in this good of a shape. I drove it regularly until Nov. '95, when I hit a deer, and because of financial and other problems, wasn't able to put it back on the road.

Nice video and the song is awesome too but the car is a Cheiftain Catalina...NOT the other way around...the Catalina designation was still used to denote a hardtop body style in 1956. Catalina did not become a series in its own right until 1959

I think this is one of the best looking cars ever made. My brother had a 1956, in 1959 -1966.
