Artist: Darkthrone
Song: Soulside Journey
Album: Soulside Journey (1990)

Lyrics:
I have had this Vision
of a voyage in mind and soul
Through silent Somniferous scenes
within the enclosed chambers of my
untouched spiritual experiences
Soaring through damp air, Seeing
faces, twisting, plunging through my colour
Cosmic Fear arrives, I hold a dead one,
Surrounded by my many candles
(I burn to cleanse the air)
Rotten Unclean Sacrifice Nightmares
Unreal Psychedelic Journey
Ride The Darkside

  • Scream Bloody Gore highly influenced this album, as you can hear.

  • @AnthemsToTheWelkin The teletubbies highy influenced this comment, as you can read.

  • @gandalfs284 But I think Death is alot better than Darkthrone just puttin that out there.

  • @TrIpPyT100 It all depends on where you look at it from. I listen more to Darkthrone, so they might be better for me. I find them more attractive. Some may say that pop is better than metal, but we're here (in this video) for a reason. We are individuals.

  • @ERUANTIAN I read somewhere that everyone went black metal after the opening of Helvete. Amputation became Immortal, Thou Shalt Suffer turned into Emperor, and Darkthrone swapped their Swedish-inspired death metal for primitive black metal. Most notoriously, Old Funeral’s guitar player Kristian Vikernes had already left the band to form his own creation, Burzum.

  • @totalEvilized Go listen to "Under the Sign of the Black Mark". I'd say that's the real start of the second wave of Black Metal.

  • @totalEvilized I don't think so, my son. Ever heard of the album Worship Him???

Anyways, term "black metal" was very well known in the '80s, Venom & Bathory were regulary labelled as "black metal". And even more...

At their early stages, bands like Sodom & Destruction were also labelled as black metal & probably some others as well.

So, basically we could come to the conclusion that black metal even came before death metal.

Well, but that's logic anyways, if you look at Venom...

  • @ERUANTIAN of course...

  • A bit weird.

  • sounds like autopsy severed survival

  • Dang, Fenriz really shines on this album! This whole album sounds like Black Sabbath, if they were death metal.

  • name me one death metal band that dosen't give a fuck if they sell another record or not and ill show you a death metal band that ranks up there with darkthrone but you can't do that so there is none higher than darkthrone because fenriz could give a fuck less if we buy his shit or not all metal whatever fucking category you want to throw at me. are a bunch of fucks just looking for the next pay check God. i mean fenriz could give a fuck less.......

  • @TrIpPyT100 Well i think you can't compare those bands, in the end they're two different "cups of tea".

  • Amazing place where Darkthrone started. Then they switched to a primal style, but through all the years it's still been about the importance of the riff.
