Dear Friends and Family and Acquaintances,
I have declared war on Orbitz.com as of 9/28/2011 after an error on their online ordering system I was charged for a flight that was never confirmed. I was told to start the booking process over again. Two days later I got the confirmation email informing me that the first flight was in fact confirmed and now I was booked to go to the same place but with two separate airlines. I thought this would be an easy problem to fix seeing how it was an error on their website; however Orbitz would not comply with a refund after a long and strenuous conversation with their customer service. They told me that if I had got another ticket from the same airline they would be able to refund one of them but because I had got the second ticket from a different airline they could not refund me. They failed to see that it was their system error that caused me to buy a second ticket in the first place and they did not take responsibility for this error. I have been robbed by this company and wish to inform you of my story so that the same will not happen to you.
This brings me to my main point that costumer service today has been cheapened with bad ethics and policy that promotes greed. We should not stand by and let companies like this walk over us.

UPDATE 10/5/2011 I was contacted by an Orbitz costumer service worker who was able to issue me a refund. This does not change the fact that Orbitz service needs to drastically improve however I have been satisfied and wont be pressing any charges. For anyone else this will happen to in the future contact me if you need help.

  • With all the reduced fee airlines out there, who needs Orbitz anyway? There are so many to choose from I can easily go to another deal maker airline service. Thanks for your story. Hope they refund you your money.

  • So many companies just don't have customer service anymore....otherwise they stick you with a machine or someone that can't speak English....it's terrible.

  • This is a good one-man film. The acting is really done well, the chief gaffer is totally on top of the lighting, the best boy is obviously good at whatever he does. The CGI though is the best part, because I read that this part was played by an ape and they made it look like a real person. I love these indie films.

  • Companies could and should have better service than that. If they really want to continue making more money, they need to have better service. If people get screwed, then it costs the company money in the long run. Gotta have the web site developers on hand to fix these errors that happen like that. Gotta have updates for these cell phone software things. The most corrupt big corporations should be taken down and we gotta make it easier to start businesses. We gotta have a better tax system.

  • This sucks Sean! I had this kind of thing happen to me when I was booking a ticket to Europe where I got an error and was double charged but it was another website and they refunded the money. Totally wage this war, its worth it. Also, talk to your credit card ppl and dispute the charges. They won't pay Orbitz. Stick it to the man!
