GCN Yoshi Circuit is one of the best Mario Kart courses of all time. In my humble opinion, the Yoshi-shaped circuit is second to none in terms of design. Therefore, Nintendo's audacious attempt to create this unique track couldn't have been more successful indeed.
In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Yoshi Circuit is remembered not only for its brilliant layout, but for its stunning graphics as well. The circuit is highly detailed, with bright colours and splendid animations in the background, such as the seabirds, Piranha Plants and the remarkable Yoshi Copter.
So how can such amazing course be translated into a portable game? A side by side comparison wouldn't be fair, considering the obvious hardware differences. However, Nintendo did cut off lots of content this time, in order to retain the game's solid frame rate intact.
I could go on and list all differences between both versions, but I believe this wouldn't make sense. The point is, the DS version still holds up its charm, even by today's standards. It's not as eye-catching as the GameCube course, that's true, but that's acceptable: the game does run smoothly.
Many reviewers say the Nintendo DS lacks horsepower, as far as graphics are concerned. Even though, Mario Kart DS delivers excellent 3D graphs. And since we're talking about a 2005 release, why not give this game a 10/10 score for its outstanding visuals? Overall, it remains as one of the best-looking DS titles so far.
Nintendo Staff Ghost for GCN Yoshi Circuit is 1:48:793, with Yoshi and his Standard YS kart. The course is relatively demanding, with a sequence of turns to be mastered. There's a U-turn by the nape of Yoshi's neck which requires some attention as well. Stay focused all the time and use the powerslide wisely, taking the shortcut right before Yoshi's hands (his fingers were not represented in the NDS version).
GCN Yoshi Circuit is the final Time Trial challenge, completing my series of 32 Mario Kart DS videos. I had already earned three stars in the Grand Prix and Mission modes, so now that pretty much everything is done, all that's left is this great feeling of accomplishment.
Unfortunately, online matches over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection are not my cup of tea. My friend federeriscol has challenged... er... invited me a couple times, but I wouldn't dare racing against him. The guy's got the skills, dude. Believe me. As I told him, I'd be pwned for good...
I hope you guys have enjoyed my Time Trial videos. I'd like to thank you all for the incentive and support, specially my brothers, SomeFluffer64 and federeriscol. I really appreciated your help, folks.

This video is dedicated to my brothers, and I hope it keeps the tradition of the Calvache Bros. Since our childhood we've been praising the good games out there by clearing/completing them with sharp eyes, fast fingers, dedication, patience, careful thinking and honour... and this FUN.
I beat every staff ghost

@Toc7871 Nice job! Have you beaten the Nintendo Staff Ghost or mine?

What happens when you beat all the nintendo staff ghosts ???
AngeloWillems 9 months ago
@AngeloWillems Actually, pretty much nothing. It sounds somewhat unrewarding, I know. The only things I've got by beating the staff ghost times were experience and a great feeling of accomplishment. On the other hand, earning Gold trophies in each and every class unlocks cool title and ending screens.

I expected MK3DS to be as good as MKDS, if not better. They must keep the Mini turbos as they were in mkds, there were just perfect like that. MkWii ones feel really awkward to me. Hope to see some retro mkds tracks in that opus :)

@MasterLuigiSW I couldn't agree more. MKDS' gameplay feels extremely accurate and polished, offering the best powerslide controls ever. I have MKWii too, but I'm currently playing GBA's MKSC on my original titanium DS (that's right, the phat one).
Indeed, MKDS controls are so good I had a tough time getting used to MKSC's "awkward" gameplay. Drifting and powersliding had never been so difficult to master! I've been struggling to earn three stars in all the tracks... And I'm talking about 50cc!
