  • ray lamontagne looks like a young john singer sargent

  • Tune your guitar to Drop D. Capo the first fret. Make an F chord (E shape) except put your middle finger on the low D. Hammer the low D accordingly. The Db adds more atmosphere and bass to the song IMO. =D

  • i love this song. love the lyrics.

  • he should alot more songs like this. faster pace I mean.

  • theres a hammer on all he way through the song

Songs just F# but hammer on the E string

he uses his thumb for this, you can see it moving, so best to play the F# like a maj 7th but with your thumb on the Base note. due to this he doesnt use a capo :)

  • guys the song is clearly in F#. Just strum along to song. Like the guy said, capo on 2nd fret if you wanna.

  • Can anyone help me understand the "Mary Anne" part of this song. Did he turn on this woman (who seems to still want him) because he's so troubled?

  • yeah, I see that. All I know is when I play along to it that's what sounds "most accurate" bu then again, Ray is a C fiend so I could just as easily be off. Toughy....

  • Thanks, I knew it was a single chord song (shades of John Lennon), but doesn't it look like he is using C variants on this video? Check out his index finger Hey it's all good, thanks for the reply!

  • it's a one chorded song withe E minor chord capo on the second. He's so clever
