@supermonk3y07 It does, which is why I usually prefer to watch Hong Kong TV serials in Cantonese rather than the dubbed Mandarin versions.
When standard language is used, it always sounds more restrictive.
Think of BBC English for example, as the standard way of speaking English, or Tagalog as standard Filipino. Natives usually prefer to use their own dialects because more subtle nuances can be expressed.

@Averagebum2 i think i somehow like cantonese more than mandarin. I think it sounds better too.

It is easier but it is also way to make other language as Cantonese dissapear.
In Singapore, many language as Cantonese, Fukkinese,,..reduced
From has Mandarin campaign in Singapore, Many chinese language reduced
English is enough for Singapore to unite many group of people.

@BAIYUE1 O I see...it's the same in Singapore where I live...only Mandarin is taught...because it is easier to have one standard Chinese language.

Yes.They only teach Mandarin in school for Cantonese children in Guangdong province
-
@BAIYUE1 You mean in Guangdong Province, they don't teach Cantonese in schools?

Hongkong will come back to mainland. After that all Hongkonger will has to learn Mandarin
But so funny is Cantonese in Guangdong has not right to learn mother language in school

@tkviper Thanks!!! So "Or" is wrong? I hear many Hong Kong actresses pronouncing it that way. Nei do is correct but not lei do?

The foreigner isn't native so she has an excuse to have to bad pronunciation. The nurse is fine, too. But the little girl that pops up from time to time has "lazy pronunciation" and I think people are only complaining about her Cantonese.

Those are very common in Hong Kong.. But Doctor is not Yi San... It's Yi Sang..even in Hong Kong.

doctor is yi sang not yi san. 'laahn yam' = lazy pronunciation or simply wrong pronuncation and that's what's happening in this video.
