Who speaks for Earth? "In our tenure on this planet, we've accumulated dangerous evolutionary baggage; propensities for agression and ritual, submission to leaders, hostility to outsiders; all of which puts our survival in some doubt. We've also acquired compassion for others, love for our children, a desire to learn from histroy and experience, and a great soaring passionate intelligence; the clear tools for our continued survival and prosperity." "National boundaries are not evident when we view the Earth from space. Fanatic ethnic, or religious, or national identifications are a little difficult to support when we see our planet as a fragile blue crescent fading to become an inconspicuous point of light against the bastion and citadel of the stars." - Carl Sagan. This clip comes from Carl Sagan's Cosmos episode 13, "Who Speaks For Earth?"

  • Such a great man, that even after his passing, his great light still reaches to every corner of our little planet, to bring forth thoughts and imagination, to sow the seeds of other little candles....And maybe, just maybe,...someday....one of these little candles will also be a Great light....RIP Carl.

  • Carl was a great light, that in it's life tried to, and is still encouraging all the little candles to grow and bring illumination to humanity. When you listen to Carl speak, every word inspires. Every thought provoks...His intentions are clear...His love for mankind is sure...

  • @XXXSDESDEXXX Great words, great man. In an age of pessimism, wars, hatred, triviality, I recall those words of Carl Sagan. Immense energy then flows into my body. Long live planet Earth!

  • These aboriginal people are only terrorists that are trying to cause more 911s.

  • the Spaniards were far from from short sighted though I have to say. the gold and resources were just the by product of them wanting to pillage the Knowledge of life and the cosmos that these people possessed. they killed them all to destroy any chance of future of people keeping there connection with nature. And look around, it has been working for quite some time
