This mechanism uses a 4-bar linkage to create a non-circular bicycle pedal path, improving the transmission of applied force into useful work. It also lengthens the power stroke slightly with respect to the return stroke, eliminating dead-center positions.

  • up and down pedalling is harder than circular...specially if the motion is not smooth......and that bulk of material that you will add means more weight

  • try cycling that in a 60 mile marathon and you'll need new knee cap replacement surgery.

  • @foxdmulder Haha new knee cap replacement surgery? what happened to the old knee cap?

  • Does it coincide with the power curve of the leg? It seems to require the most force mid stroke when the leg is least efficient, yet inversely traveling at the greatest velocity, when the opposite should be happening? I am sorry if I am sounding like a critic or skeptic. Just curious and wondering. Nothing more

  • Very innovative.

    Define:Prototype...

    pro·to·type

Verb: Make a prototype of (a product).

Noun: A first or preliminary model of something, esp. a machine, from which other forms are DEVELOPED or copied

  • what a stupid looking piece of crap

  • The simplier the better, this is just crap

  • that looks pap lol

  • Have you ever actually ridden a bicycle? If so, how could you think that's an improvement? Is it easier to keep something spinning in a circle, or to accelerate it, decelerate it, reverse and repeat?

All such "improvements" for bikes were tried over a hundred years ago, and found lacking back then.

  • Where is physiological prove that reciprocal move is more efficient than cycling for human body? It's easy to set up calorimetric experiment that will settle all speculations. Like following:

Cycling is closer to evolutionary developed walking (our feet are circling when we walk).

Not everything weird or new is reasonable.

After all, cycling is closer to evolutionary developed walking (our feet are circling when we walk).

Not everything weird or new is reasonable.
