The Streets of San Francisco is a successful 1970s television police drama filmed on location in San Francisco, California, USA, and produced by Quinn Martin Productions, with the first season produced in association with Warner Bros. Television (QM produced the show on its own for the remainder of its run). The show ran for five seasons, between September 16, 1972 and June 9, 1977 on ABC, amassing a total of 119 60-minute episodes. The series started with a pilot movie of the same title (based on the detective novel Poor, Poor Ophelia by Carolyn Weston) earlier in 1972.

  • Anyone notice how Martin Sheen's hairstyle was EXACTLY the same as Charlie's on 2 and a half men?

  • One of my favorite shows of all time! I'm on Volume 2 of Season 1 right now; ordering Season 2 soon. I treat myself to an episode every Saturday morning with my coffee, and I really look forward to that! Sorry to hear of Michael Douglas's health problems lately.

  • Wicked opening theme song!

  • One of the best cop shows of all time....

  • I grew up in the 80s, but this show is being aired on our local KOFY Cable 13 channel, which was our local WB affiliate before going back to local/independent. I also didn't know that Michael Douglas had left the show and that his character was killed off in the "Return to the Streets of SF" TV-Movie in the early 90s...

  • I remember this episode. Great performance by Sheen

  • This was also very successful and of course very famous in Germany..

    RIP Karl Malden

  • ,,he's still alive, but notacably older, he's going to do another American Express commercial & Michael Douglas is going to make another sex thriller movie with his wife Catherine Zetta Jones.

  • This was a classic show. RIP Karl Malden

  • Episode aired 09/20/73
