It's just amazing how that saxophone (which I remember so well from Garbarek's collaborations with Keith Jarrett, especially in 'Arbour Zena' and 'Luminosity' fits so well with Tallis' medieval chants.
I dunno, maybe it's like blues with tonsure and frock? :)

Me too! I heard this song on Queer as Folk and fell in love with it. Who knew Gregorian chants and tenor saxophone could go together so well? The title of the Gregorian chant (written by Spanish composer Cristobal Morales (sp?) in the 16th century) comes from the book of Job...Something like, "Parce mihi, Domine, nihil enim sunt dies mei," which (I think) means "Spare me, Lord, since my days mean nothing." I thought knowing that brought more poignance and meaning to the final scenes of the firs

we saw them perform together in Tokyo....wow, what an experience....Jan was
constantly moving around behind them, dressed in black,while playing. After,
we knocked on the backstage door and we were ushered into a private area
where Jan was holding a reception, and we chatted with him....SO accessible!!
We will never forget it.....

Wonderful! It remind me to Gregorian chants. Very good the sax but for my thought is a little bit too strong, it wouldnt have to cover the voices.
