The reason I believe he hates the song is because it was originally named and written for a girl he had dated for 4 years before he was famous. So it may bring back some painful memories.

I have never really liked Neon, and have always skipped it on my ipod. I dislike the "Room for Squares" version, but I absolutely love this one. For me, it's turned a song with an unquestionably annoying chorus, into something jazzy and mellow. I admire John Mayer's ability to change and improve his music as time goes on. He's amazing. Thanks for posting it. :)

joking aside, its pretty cool, he did this for charity and put it out for free, considering WTLI was filmed in the very same theatre. I love that, but this is so cool, to just hear him jamming alone on stage, getting chords wrong and rambling in that Mayer way

Wow. I'm sure he probably hates Your Body Is A Wonderland. He seems like he does when people ask about it. and I love Neon the acoustic version that is. Never really liked it with the band. My fav one is from Where The Light Is. It's so different from Room For Squares version.
