This is a Philips 312 belt drive turntable. It's only two speed (33 and 45), and it doesn't have a changer, but it still works great. This was a trash find.

The record is Disc 1 of Fleetwood Mac Live.

  • Part 1 - Setting the force adjustments is easy. Pull the small length weight weight back until it touces the lift mechanism. Dial in the heavy tone-arm counter weight until the arm is fully balanced in air. Now pull the small light weight out. Each line or notch is approximately one gram - or use a needle-cartridge tone arm gauge.

  • @tonyo1234 Thanks for the info!

  • I had one of these tables. Nice sound and elegant operation, but it was really sensitive to vibration and would skip at the slightest footstep anywhere near it. Replaced it with a more civilized Dual.

  • Yeah I have noticed that it's a bit sensitive... right now, it's sitting on top of a bookcase that's fastened into the floor and wall, so that's not really an issue, though. My dad has a Dual in his stereo setup. I think it needs a new belt or something though, as you constantly need to adjust the speed for it to play consistantly.

  • wow nice! i have a philips 308! could you tell me what cartridge your player has? im missing the cartridge and thats all i need to get my philips playing music again!

  • Mine has a Grado G1 cartridge in it, but I don't think that would work in yours, since it looks as if yours takes the plug-in style cartridge. Mine has the standard screw mount type.

  • @gli7utubeo I have a 212, and it's not sensitive at all. I can walk and dance and it will not skip. I also had a 202 with the same great suspension. Wonderful players :)

  • I have one of these and have no idea what to connect it to speaker wise. The one I have I had to get a american volt adaptor for and the audio line has a 5 prong end that I do not know what I need to make that work! hope someone knows what im talking about..

  • Does your turntable have the CD-4 switch? What does this do?

  • Hello, I recently aquired this record player from my aunts boyfriend. However, the speakers I'm using do not have the audio inputs that these record player has. Those two small input/jack things. What are you playing yours through?

Also, I can't seem to fine tune the speed with the controls. Know what might be wrong?

  • Part 2 - Should probably set about 1.5 - 2.5 grams for this tonearm (on a good cartridge that operates at that level. The dial in the other controls on the tonearm surface to excatly the same number, ahain 1.5 -2.5 (the excat weight). Great turntable. I cleaned mine and bought a new belt. Works great.

  • o wow a turntable gee hold me back
