We start with a simple blurred color background and step-by-step create a perfect gel button. The beauty of this button is that it is entirely Layer Styles so it is an effect that can easily be transferred to other shapes or other buttons. The Letterpress effect is also 100% Layer Style which allows it to be applied to live text and you can even save it as a preset in Photoshop!

Follow along and create this cool gel button with Adobe Photoshop CS4!

  • This video is pixelated even in 720p :s

  • Yep, I have the problem fixed, but this video is staying, for now. Thanks for noticing and dropping a note though!

  • The background is like different colors of a soft brush and has this guassian blur right????

  • That's exactly what it is. That overlayed over some kind of grid type bars I made.

  • Great CS 4 skills that you have shown us here. thank you.

  • @tutvid If thats exactly what it is why did you say stupidly in the video "I have no idea how I did it". If you're going to make a tutorial dont make it so half assed.

  • These tutvideos are so badly done. First the guys talk super fast like they have to use the bathroom and cant until they finish the video. Second they use textures and backgrounds that the user doesnt have. Here for example he says I dont remember how I did this. If someones following along trying to learn that just screws them up.

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial! I have learned a lot from your process! Keep up the wonderful work

  • coooooooooool
