A great tip to give your microwave a fresh scent is to pour a little vanilla extract in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for around 10 seconds. Your microwave should have a fresh baked cookie scent! Also, after the extract cools, mix a little with warm, soapy water and wash down microwave walls for a deeper clean.

Covering the food when it is being microwaved does help keep the oven clean, but you have to wash that thing that you use to cover the food with. That results in no less cleaning, you have to wash that up too. . I use a paper plate to cover over the top of the food in the microwave while it is cooking this stops any splattering food spitting onto the microwave wall or ceiling. . The paper plate, may then be discarded with out any further cleaning. . . Cheers. from, del-boy.
