Actually, I had to re-construct this version using both the long and short versions as the longer version had a scratchy part in the middle that I couldn't repair. The good old days of vinyl records :-)
I remember this compo achingly well. Perfect for our 11/12-yr-olds discos in the living room when the parents were away for the evening and you invited some other kids from the estate, dimmed the lights and maybe sneaked in tins of Long Life that someone's big brother got down the offy. "Jammin" was prolly our bestest biggest living room hit but John Forde's "Stardance" here was too. TRB's 2-4-6-8-Motorway was seemingly hated by everyone who had the DWN LP. I loved it.
I too like 2-4-6-8-Motorway and this compilation was one of my faves. It was out when I left school and managed to get hold of some of the 12" versions including SITC.
Ah, 'Don't Walk, Boogie'... Came out when I was three. One of a handful of tapes my Aged P used to use to get me to sleep at nights. I'm extraordinarily fond of every song on it as a result!
What became of Evolution? Or, for that matter Patsy Gallant, Marshall Hain, Clout, John Forde, La Belle Epoque, Jesse Green... I never heard of most of these outside of DW,B (T. Rex being the notable exception).
Anyway, thanks for posting this - a more substantial version of a much-loved song.
I currently have 'Don't Walk, Boogie' Sitting on my lap. I acquired it this weekend. I don't know whether it's my dad's or gran's. Either way. One has taste.
thank you for posting - not heard it in years
