Who cannot remember this great classic for the NES. I remember playing this game all the time when I was a kid.

Recently, I've been restarting to play these kind of games, and I'm getting a lot better at them! This is probably the most basic run you can get, nothing too crazy, but lots of fun that's for sure.

There is one level missing in this run (stupid warp...) and also, I'm not using a turbo controller. The rapid fire at the end of the video is just a weird glich that happens in the game and I can't find out why it happens everytime...

Well anyways, here is a full run of Gradius without dying once (No-Miss). Enjoy the video!

Gradius for the Nintendo Entertainment System, done on 07/23/07.

*Total video time: 15 min 30 sec*
*Music: Nothing too fancy for the edit this time, just plain old Gradius musics and sound effects, at KRIK's request. I tried to find some remixes but I failed miserably. Oh well! =P*

  • @:4:30 I would never bother with flying evasively. I'd just sit in between my gun-pods let the laser's shield me.

Happy to clarify things. Go ahead and use the definition.

A lot of pseudo-English expressions are used in Japanese, and many of the expressions can be quite far from the established English meaning. And since Japanese people find foreign words tedious to pronounce, they often abbreviate them for their convenience. So while making perfect sense for someone who has a grip on everyday Japanese, terms like "no-miss" will often confuse native English speakers not familiar with Japanese.

  • y did they put volcanoes in this game!!!

  • @sekigunstyle

That's a better explanation than I could ever find. Thanks for clarifying it up. I hope you don't mind if I use your definition later? ;)

  • @SHMUPGurus

Actually, the term "no-miss" has a Japanese origin. ミス (mis) is an abbreviation for ミステイク (mistake), an English loanword that is commonly used in everyday Japanese, not just for expressing death in video games, but mistakes and screwups in general.

And then the term ノーミス "no-miss", which means not dying or failing in a video game, entered English again through Japanese gaming culture.

So the expression actually has nothing at all to do with "missing a target" or such.
