In 1994, soon after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russian prima ballerina Natalia Makarova takes us (and her son) for a great train ride, from her beloved St Petersburg to the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. This is more than a train journey, however; Makarova also introduces us to the places and faces she loves as we go for this romantic Russian ride.
This brings back 1999 for me. I remember specifically the day I watched this. It was on a crisp autumn day in 1999. I was 13, and I saw this on the Travel Channel. This was one of the videos that really got me into studying about Russia.
