What should you do before going on a plane with an Autistic kid. Social stories are the best thing you can do. Anxiety is one of autistic kids biggest issues. They do not understand what is going to happen next. So social stories help them understand what happens next. Having the pictures of where they are going to be exactly makes it even easier for them.

Bring cookies or buy a drink in the airport for on the plane while taking off for their ears.

When my kids where babies I used to nurse them for take off and landings. having them drink is a good thing.
take an empty sippy cup through security and then fill it with water and add one of those koolaid singles.

Buy a DVD player and have them watch Thomas videos. very helpful. I always leave this as my last resort. I do not pull this out until the end so that the batteries do not die.
