In March 2009, Nestlé officially opened a state-of-the-art factory and distribution centre in Anderson, Indiana -- one of Nestlé's largest-ever investments. From day one, when we started building the facility, we wanted to minimise the impact we have on the environment, an ambition shared by our employees. This has involved trying to reduce our consumption of water and also looking at how we can re-use waste water.
We have worked with the city's authorities to develop effective drainage systems, and even partnered with other industries in the area to conserve water and energy, trying to make sure we have a positive impact on the community. The plant has also brought employment opportunities to 500 local people and investment in local education.
