Rex Haydon, MD, Phd, assistant professor of surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center, talks about being part of the first UChicago medical team sent to a field hospital in Fond Parisien, Haiti in the weeks after the Jan. 2010 earthquake. Haydon, an orthopedic surgeon, helped patients recover from severe crush injuries and amputations, and said he was inspired by how the Haitian people came together to fight through adversity in the weeks after the disaster.
