@TheStapleGunKid very true, i completely negated that essential fact. yes they did indeed call an ambulance in the hopes of saving Private Santiago's life, but at the same time they did indeed weed out and torment a weaker inidividual solely because they were acting on orders. However, they are obviously innocent of Willie's murder.

That's not true. They didn't cover it up at all. They immediately called an abulance when they saw things went wrong and confessed to everything. Their defense wasn't that they didn't cause his death, but that they were following what they reasonably thought were lawful orders, since such "code reds" were routinely performed on the base.
