  • What a shite video, how very poor a response from Premier Williams was not also shown. It makes whatever argument you are attempting to promote really bloody weak.

  • Diddo, this videom is kind of stupid. theyre either done by peoplem on the mainland or a few liberal hacks on the island (and theyre usually done badly in that case)

  • Actully Danny is trying to do something about our economy, and the only way the get through to the federal government is to shake them up a bit.

    Check your sources again buddy

  • Sorry about the three post's, There is so much to say but not enough space.

  • This debate can go back and fourth between both sides, I just find it funny.

I can't comment on other provinces but I can recall a few deals that the federal government had screwed over Newfoundland from the Churchill Falls deal, from the oil being pumped off our shores to the cod fishery(which I still can't believe that let these foreign trawlers fish, but that's a whole different topic). But then again who is one to say the other is wrong while the other is right?

  • It has been 15 years and the Cod Moratorium is still in effect for local fishermen (but yet foreign ships are allowed fish in our waters). In my mind that's a large number of people to put out of work. What were the options for all these people? To wait for the Moratorium to end? To go back to school to get retrained or just move away for a job with a high pay rate?

  • I read a few posts which people have stated there opinions about our unemployment rate and how it's high compared to the rest of Canada. In 1992 an estimate of 19,000 people worked in the fishery. On July 3rd 1992 a two year Cod Moratorium was imposed by John Crosbie(Federal Fisheries Minister).

  • If you say Newfoundland is as good as you claim, then let me ask you this question. And it's a fiar question because I ask it all the time when equalization is talked about:

When Newfoundland was a have-not, they pressed non-stop for more equliazation, particularly from Alberta and Ontario. So if for whatever reason AB became have-not and NF became have, will Mr. Williams turn around and offer to help Alberta?

  • Good call Mulder. A lot of people seem to forget that Newfoundland has the POTENTIAL to be a have province, but isn't really a have province yet.

I think Premier Williams should spend more time to fix up his province until it becomes a "have" province, rather than go around belittling his neighbours and making a fuss with "Steve".

  • did he forget to mention the unemployment rate was %18 idiot, lol such a moron. thinks he's so smart when all he does is distort the facts to seem right, as opposed to actually saying what IS ACTUALLY RIGHT, pfft, good luck at the special olympics man
