The Royal College of Physicians '3 questions' approach has been widely used and valued for its simplicity, although it is poorly validated:

Have you had any difficulty sleeping because of your asthma symptoms, including cough?

Have you had your usual asthma symptoms during the day (cough, wheeze, chest tightness of breathlessness)?

Has your asthma interfered with your usual activities (housework, work, school, etc.)?

I also had severe asthma that put me into full cardiac and respiratory arrest before the paramedics arrived. Severe asthma is curable and I have many of the medical journal articles from researchers around the world posted on the asthmastory site. Research that links severe asthma to the bacteria chlamydia pneumoniae and how to kill the bacteria.

I had an asthma attack when I was a wee nipper wasn't pleasant, doctor came round my house kept telling me to lean back but each time i did it was like being dunked under water had to keep leaning forward for air.
