Bonaparte's Retreat - Beginner Version

Yet another simplified classic from the Mel Bay fiddle book. I am somewhere between 2 and 3 months as far as time spent learning.

I'm still a little flat with the 4th finger even after I put the tape on. Not that the rest of the fingers are perfect by any means.

American Fiddle Method is the name of the book. I worked my way through it cover to cover eventually. It was the book my fiddle teacher recommended.

There are a couple slurs. I'm just playing it as written in the beginning fiddle book. I don't really feel at liberty to improvise yet.

Actually "not at liberty to improvise" is a bit of a overstatement of my fiddle abilities, since I couldn't if I wanted to at this point. Maybe in another 6 to 60 months.

ur more than capable of doing that...it was just a suggestion. Slurs make the tune sound more connected and also make it easier for u to play. Regardless, u r correct in the fact that slurs will come naturally the more experience u get under ur belt...i posted a video on here for u of my version of the song and how a little improv can add a whole other dimension to the tune (granted i no ur still a beginner and it would be a lot to just jump to a version like the one i play)
