Using a small PC fan, a small power supply from a Vapureyes and a piece of welding rod... and if you have one a variable resistor of PWM motor control to vary the speed...
The water is coloured with potassium permanganate....

  • Im sort of confused here....So is this with the magnets spinning underneath the glass? And this is what you are suggesting is causing the water to move in a vortex? Really? I can't wrap my head around why that should work...I know water is somewhat diamagnetic, but its a pretty weak thing. Hmmm If you could explain the theory behind this I'd appreciate it! PS is the permanganate part of how it works, or is that just to make it show up better?

  • @frankensteinmoneymac - Magnetic Stirrers are pretty common place in laboratories. There is a small iron bar wrapped in plastic that is placed in the bottom of the beaker. The magnets on the fan underneath the beaker make a magnetic connection to the stirrer bar. You can hear it when it changes speed and starts rattling as it breaks free from the magnetic. So there is no magic involved and the permanganate is just for colour ;)

  • what kind of magnate did you use

  • 2 little neodymiums...

  • is potassium permanganate poisonous?

  • yes, potassium permanganate is poisonous... If you put some diluted with warm water and soak your feet in it for 30minutes, you get potassium poisoning... you go cold, body shuts down... it horrible... so dont try that one...

  • @waterboost Ah, ok.... I guess I thought that there was some sort of far out, freaky science thing going on here...the title "Magnetic Vortex" kind of threw me! LOL! I was thinking how U can make a sort of homopolar motor like this with Magnet below, & a nail in the middle and a wire not touching, with a charge moving through salt water makin' the H20 swirl (much slower though!...thats Y I was intriguied, I thought maybe this was a mod of that Idea, that made it work a heck of a lot better.

  • Give me more PURPLE DRANK!

  • Ah so purple dye is the secret to free energy. I knew it!

  • where did you get them if i may ask?
