In September and October, 2011, Friends of the High Line presented a series of public talks about the past, present, and future of the High Line at the West Side Rail Yards.
In this talk, entitled "Completing the vision: Saving the High Line at the Rail Yards," Friends of the High Line Co-Founder Robert Hammond talks about how a crazy idea to transform a derelict elevated railway into public open space became a reality in 10 years, and how advocacy work continues for the final stretch of the historic structure.
Rail Yards Programs are generously supported by The Tiffany & Co. Foundation, the New York Community Trust—LuEsther T. Mertz Advised Fund, the Greenwall Foundation, and, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts.
