Yes I agree with the comment below that it has changed a lot. The new music package doesn't sound like news music, and they call it your alaska link. They do the news completely different now. They don't even have a 6:00 newscast.

I should point out that things have REALLY gotten much worse, as news director Ty Hardt was let go in favor of "Kitty Fox" (Trill Gates) and that KIMO is now KYUR.

This is annoying. I do like that ABC music package, but the graphics are annoying.

By the way, John Tracy left KTUU last summer for some public relations job elsewhere, promoting Steve MacDonald to News Director.
But KIMO's dominance in the '70s happened when ABC was #1 themselves. KTUU became #1 in 1986 largely thanks to NBC (thanks to "The Cosby Show") becoming #1.

It looks like they're trying too hard to emulate ABC's WN graphics in the open... their graphics used to be the straight "ABC Generic Affiliate News Package", but they've tried to vary it a little bit in the last couple of years.

Back in the day ('70s to mid-'80s), KIMO once had the top-rated newscasts in Alaska including a magazine show called "Alaska's People." But thanks to the hiring of John Tracy who would later become their News Director (he still holds that position today), KTUU kicked KIMO's ass and they're STILL #1 over 20 years later!

yup. that's right. I liked their old graphics and their use of the eyewitness news theme. This is just annoying.
