@acidterror This is "performance"...However, it is also a reality that perfectly safe, edible food gets destroyed everyday in Japan.

This is merely a dramatization of what happens everyday in Japan. It is a reality that perfectly safe (unexpired) food gets destroyed. Food manufacturers take no pleasure in destroying the food. But nonetheless it happens because consumers will not purchase the food. Food banking is just one response to deal with this surplus of food.

i've heard a story from the man from this NGO, Second Harvest Japan, and it was very shocking! Most Japanese don't know this, for sure! People say, "Japan is a groumet country, and you can taste any food around the world here!" and I guess that's true. But, we, Japanese people import lots food, not making them at our local farms. And one third of it, we are throwing away. Is that the correct thing to do? Think about it, Groumet People! (Oh, just in case, I myself am a Japanese guy.)
パフォーマンス動画うざい。
